On 31 January, 1 and 2 February 2000, Imagina celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Prix Pixel-INA!

In the space of 15 years, the "Prix Pixel-INA" awards have become a touchstone of the state of the art and of worldwide production in computer graphics and special effects.

If you wish to take part Rules of the competition / Participation form

You must:

  • have made an audiovisual or cinematographic work including at least one sequence of computer graphics or digital special effects.
  • send in an application form which you can obtain from INA
  • send it to INA, making sure it arrives no later than 8 November 1999.

Imagina distinctions

Awarded by the jury:

The "Grand Prix Imagina" is awarded by the jury to a work having already won a category prize.

For the first time, after viewing the works entered, the jury will be able to award the following "Prix Pixel-INA":

  • Best Lighting
  • Best Screenplay
  • Best Computer-Generated Actor
  • Research, etc.

These prizes will be awarded irrespective of category to a work chosen from the whole of the official selection.

Awarded on the basis of audience voting, the following "Prix Pixel-INA":

  • Art
  • Schools & universities
  • Cinema/television special effects
  • Fiction
  • Credits & channel logo sequences
  • Games (intros and kinematics)
  • Theme parks
  • Commercials
  • Animation series
  • Sciences (simulation, visualisation, research)
  • Video clips

Special prizes awarded by Imagina partners:

  • CST-SACEM Soundtrack Award
  • SCAM 3rd Dimension Prize
  • SCAM 3rd Dimension Prize for New Talent
  • SACD Prize
  • MEDIA Prize for the best European creative work
  • CREAGINA Prize awarded by INFOGRAMES

Two new prizes this year:

The Pixel-INA Internet Prize
This prize, awarded by a jury of network and on-line computer graphics specialists, is for the Web site with the most innovative graphics and imaging.

The Pixel-INA 3-D Relief Prize
A programme of selected stereoscopic computer graphics films will be shown to the Imagina audience. A video room will be used exclusively for these 3-D relief projections.
The Pixel-INA 3-D Relief Prize will be awarded by the Imagina jury.

Important note

Concerning the 3-D Relief category: for this first year, all productions made in relief will be accepted for the competition, regardless of the year of production.

The projection room will be equipped with two complementary video projectors, used in conjunction with a right eye/left eye passive orthogonal polarization system.

3-D relief works submitted must:

  • be in Beta SP or Beta digital format,
  • be supplied on two separate magnetic tapes, marked "right eye" and "left eye", and bearing an identical Time Code.
